Frequently asked questions
What is hexadecimal used for?
In computing: colours like #1A9A50, memory addresses, MAC addresses and checksums are written in hexadecimal because every two characters make exactly one byte.
How large can the number be?
Practically unlimited: calculations use whole numbers without rounding, even beyond 64 bits. Decimal fractions are not converted.
