Suggestions
The bits tell you how many possibilities there are: 80 bits are 2 to the power of 80. From 80 bits on, a password is considered very strong.
Frequently asked questions
How random are the passwords?
The randomness comes from your browser’s random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), which encryption uses too. Every character is drawn evenly, without bias.
Characters or own sentence?
For a password manager, “Characters”: a long password using all character groups is strongest. “Own sentence” is for passwords you have to remember: you memorise the sentence and type the initials, numbers and final punctuation.
