Frequently asked questions
Why does the tool warn three weeks before expiry?
Let’s Encrypt certificates are valid for 90 days and are usually renewed 30 days before expiry. If fewer than 21 days remain, the automatic renewal has probably failed.
What does “chain incomplete” mean?
The server only delivers its own certificate, not the intermediate certificates. Some browsers fill this in themselves; other programs and devices report an error.
Can I check a different port?
No. Port 443, the standard for HTTPS, is always checked. That way the tool cannot be misused as a port scanner.
